Teaching and tutoring
They say teaching is the best path to learning. Even if it seems like a common phrase, I truly believe it's accurate. You only notice gaps in your knowledge when you try to explain concepts to someone else.
Other compelling reasons for tutoring and teaching include broadening your understanding, gaining experience, exploring facets of science that time may not permit, giving back by sharing the education you've received, and, not to forget, the opportunity to earn some extra money.
Supervised thesis
Since I joined the Microsatellites and Space Microsystems Lab in February 2021, I have supervised 6 BSc students from the Aerospace Engineering course on the following internship/thesis topics:
  • Variational autoencoders as a method for expanding datasets in Earth observation problems.
  • Implementation of neural networks for predicting water quality parameters from satellite images, 2023.
Among the winning teams at OrbitalAI IMAGIN-e challenge.
  • Deep learning for autonomous guidance of satellites in interplanetary transfers, 2023.
  • Analysis of the state of the art of hardware components for machine learning in the space sector, 2022.
  • Implementation of neural networks for satellite remote sensing missions from hyperspectral images, 2022. Hyperspectral CNN soil estimation Among the winning teams at #HYPERVIEW - Seeing beyond the visible challenge
  • Estimation of satellite pose from monocular images based on neural networks, 2022.

Some of these works are accessible in the Unibo repository.

Please note that thesis supervision is offered without remuneration.
